STED Microscopy whitepaper

STED Microscopy has enabled super resolution imaging to resolve structures of proteins and viruses to below 10nm – several orders below the diffraction limit. Laser Quantum’s opus 660 laser has proved ideal for this imaging technique, with the high power 660nm beam able to create the STED de-excitation needed to achieve these high-resolution images.

The frequency comb to find ‘Earth-like’ planets

Hunting for ‘Earth-like’ planets outside of our solar system is becoming ever-more feasible with the investment and developments in frequency comb lasers. The new developments allow for greater precision and more sensitive techniques especially for astronomers investigating stars in other solar systems and the planets orbiting them. Frequency combs work by firing ultra-short pulses (a […]

Möbius Strip: The Light Way

A Möbius strip is a 3-Dimensional structure which has one side. It is easy to create a Möbius strip using a piece of paper, however, they are not easy to find naturally. Recently, a team of researchers have demonstrated experimentally that you can produce a Möbius strip made of polarisation states of light. This was […]
