IR laser used for optical trapping techniquesThe ventus 1064 is an Nd:YAG laser from our continuous wave range which produces a wavelength of 1064 nm. Comprising a maximum output power of 5 W and an M2 of less than 1.4, this IR laser is ideal for optical trapping techniques. Infrared lasers are ideal for optical tweezing and trapping techniques when working with biological samples, as the wavelength reduces the absorption of light energy that can cause heating in cells. The ventus 1064 has recently been used for optical trapping in cutting-edge research which analysed single cancer cells. In addition to its Infrared wavelength, its exceptional pointing stability of <0.2% RMS, which ensured the laser beam was able to stay focussed for long periods of time, was perfect for producing invaluable cellular data.
