Good luck to Laser Quantum employee in ‘company’ cycling event
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Last month we reported that Oliver Prochnow, in charge of R&D at Laser Quantum – Venteon, Germany, was competing in the German road cycling ‘company-facilitated’ championships. In preparation for the race, we spoke to Oliver about his passion for cycling and success so far.
How and when did you get into cycling?
I have always been fascinated by the pace of cycling and moving forwards by your own power. I began road cycling competitions at 17 and enjoyed the challenging and competitive nature of the sport.
How many competitions do you have in a year?
Typically the season runs March – October; within this time I compete in 20-25 races.
What has been your main success?
One of my biggest achievements was finishing 26th out of 36,000 riders in the overall official German ranking of all ‘hobby’ riders. In a special ranking for the ‘Kriterium races’ (these are races on a short course, typically 1-2 km in distance, with numerous laps) I finished in 3rd place out of over 2,000 riders.
Last year you started in a German ‘company’ championship race. How did you do?
The German ‘company’ championships is a competition between individuals from different companies, with around 60 riders competing in the race across a distance of 41 km. I finished in 2nd place in last year’s race, after a final sprint towards the finish line, with just 0.26 seconds between me and 1st place!
We wish Oliver the best of luck for his upcoming race![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
